Blackboard Collaborate web conferencing uses the .collab file to launch a web conferencing session when using Blackboard Collaborate Launcher. Therefore, it is necessary for your computer to recognize the .collab file type and be able to execute the Launcher program.
Note: Each file type on your computer is associated with an application that runs it. Files of type .collab are run by Blackboard Collaborate Launcher. It is possible for .collab files to become associated with another application, causing them to open incorrectly. Because Blackboard Collaborate Launcher opens your Blackboard Collaborate web conferencing sessions, when the .collab files are associated incorrectly, your session cannot open.
Follow the steps below to modify the file association on a Mac OS X computer so that .collab files open with Blackboard Collaborate Launcher.
